After the recent bad weather it was good to get a few half decent days over the weekend to get out with the club groups. Our Group 3 and Sportif Groups usually head out together and this weekend we got a couple of spins in with plenty of photo’s from our now resident photographer Richard Zamora.
A few of us got out on the Friday but Saturday is always our main spin of the weekend and we had 13 meet up down in Woodies for a 100km spin to Carrick, Mahon Bridge, Kilmac and Tramore.
We had a puncture before even getting out of town which saw the group break up into two but the six chasers managed to get back on the road and catch the lead group before Mahon Bridge. We then headed to the coach house for coffee and breakfast for some as the photo’s will show.
Once fed and watered it was back to the main road where some headed home while six of us headed to T-Bay via Orchardstown. Good spin all round despite the two punctures for 100km at just over the 30 average.
A few of the group were back out the following day joined by a few fresh legs where we kept it to the usual route of Dunphy’s Pub , Boatstrand and back the coast road to Tramore for a 65km spin before the rain kicked off.
Great Group 1 spins this weekend..
Boxer paced us nicely up Chapel Hill, and we enjoyed a well deserved coffee in Kilmac, before heading home via Newtown, Kilmeaden and the old Cork Road. 65k in all at a nice 23kph.
Smaller than usual meeting at Woodies on Sunday (the lure of Easter eggs might have kept a few home!). Val, Mark and Dave from Group 2 joined us on a nice recovery spin to Kilmeaden, then we turned left at the Sweep to Fenor.
Nice photo op at impromptu water stop where Val showed off his Easter bonnet (nice twigs Val!), then on to Tramore for coffee, where our resident photographer Sudhir took the obligatory photo!
A chilly headwind changed our minds (thanks for the advice Ray!), and we headed straight back to Waterford, avoiding the planned coast road route home. Handy 42k on the odo at a 21kph pace.
