Glen of Aherlow Spin

The newly named Group One’s which was formerly a mixture of the Sportif Group and Group 3’s took on our annual touring spin today with a trip up as far as the Glen Of Aherlow. The route took us over the Mauma Road and down into County Tipp via Ballymacarbery, Newcastle and in a round about way Ardfinnan until we stopped after 95km for lunch in Cahir.

After a superb stop in Cahir with the castle for a backdrop we hit the road up through the Glen towards the Christ the King climb. The 2.5km climb was took at a nice pace by all and we then descended into Tipp Town before a quick blast to Cashel for a water stop before hitting the road once more for Clonmel.

After another nice refueling stop in our now usual Clonmel haunt we made good time back towards Carrick and then to Kilmeaden before all going our separate ways. A great day in all in superb weather with 12 starting out and 9 of us doing the full spin for around 225km with some doing up to 265km. Well Done All.
